LIFE WITHIN LIFE

2 Channel Video
This installation questions the notion of duality and life infinitely captured within us. The two separate screens represent the space of the pregnant mother and the child inside the womb. The two are one being and occupy the same consciousness. The artist enters a sensory depravation tank in an effort to duplicate and enter the symbolic womb. In performing this act the artist points at the sometimes claustrophobic post partum space, her new role as a mother and an attempt at rebirth and breaking through ‘maya’.

In Indian philosophies, Māyā is a spiritual concept connoting "that which exists, but is constantly changing and thus is spiritually unreal", and the “power or the principle that conceals the true character of spiritual reality”. Finally this piece explores being captive in our own illusory bubbles, which in reality are not what they seem, just like a dream.
